Arab League delegation in Khartoum to support resumption of talks between Sudanese parties

An Arab League delegation, led by Assistant SecretaryGeneral and Head of the Arab Affairs Sector Khalil Al Thawadi, arrived in the Sudanese capital Khartoum on Tuesday.

The visit of the General Secretariat delegation comes as part of the Arab League's efforts and contacts with the Sudanese Transitional Military Council (TMC) and representatives of political forces and civil society organizations, to encourage them to resume dialogue that aimed at agreeing on arrangements to transfer power to a civilianled authority in Sudan.

Arab League SecretaryGeneral Ahmed Aboul Gheit instructed the delegation to go back to Khartoum to hold a series of meetings with the Sudanese parties, in a followup to the visit he had made to Sudan on 16 June 2019.
