Russia has refused to resume gas supplies to Europe until sanctions against Moscow are lifted.
Talking to Interfax news agency, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said western sanctions are the sole reason behind Russia's decision to shut the Nord Stream 1 pipeline.
