ISESCO, UNESCO’s World Heritage Center hold working session in Baku

Director of Culture at the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) Najib El Gheiti held a working session on Monday with Deputy Director for the World Heritage Centre at UNESCO Jyoti Hosagrahar, on the sidelines of the 43rd session of the World Heritage Committee, currently taking place in Azerbaijan's capital Baku.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed means of enhancing relations of cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including building capacities of cadres from member states to prepare applications for registration of heritage sites on the Islamic World Heritage List and World Heritage List; mandating experts to design training courses; exchange and interaction mechanisms between UNESCO and ISESCO lists; and practical proposals on technical and material assistance that could be provided to the competent authorities in the member states to support their efforts to preserve the heritage monuments.

It was agreed that the World Heritage Center would submit a draft framework agreement on these areas for consideration by ISESCO and subsequent signature.
