Beijing: Pakistan, China, and Afghanistan have reached a consensus to enhance their cooperation on the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and to extend the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor into Afghanistan. This agreement was the outcome of an informal trilateral meeting involving Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, and Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi.
According to Radio Pakistan, the trilateral meeting, which took place in Beijing, was focused on reaffirming the importance of trilateral cooperation as a platform for promoting regional security and economic connectivity. The discussions centered on enhancing diplomatic engagement, strengthening communications, and implementing practical measures to boost trade, infrastructure, and development. These are seen as key drivers for achieving shared prosperity among the three nations.
The Foreign Ministers also emphasized their collective commitment to countering terrorism and fostering regional stability and development. Furthermore, they agreed to convene the 6th Trilateral Meeting of the Foreign Ministers in Kabul at an early, mutually convenient date.
