Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has invited China's Shanghai Electric Group to further expand its coal mining projects in Pakistan and shift the country's imported coal-fired power plants to local coal. He was talking to a delegation of Shanghai Electric Group led by its Chairman Wu Lei which called on him in Islamabad today. The Prime Minister said the government will provide all facilities to the Chinese investors for augmenting their projects. He assured the delegation that no compromise will be made on security of Chinese, working in Pakistan. Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan's resolve to strengthen the friendly ties and economic cooperation with China. The meeting was briefed about progress on different projects. It was told that Shanghai Electric Group was working on Thar Coal Mine Development and 1320 Megawatt Coal Power Project in Pakistan. The Thar Coal projects of the Group are saving foreign exchange worth 400 million dollars annually. Shanghai Electric Group is one of the largest Chinese companies operating in Pakistan under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project. Source: Radio Pakistan
