Rescue and relief operations are underway in flood affected areas of Sindh and stranded people are being shifted to camps and safer places.

Our Karachi correspondent Altaf Pirzado reports that rain water is being drained out of the low-lying areas.

Relief camps have been established in all twenty three calamity hit districts of the province. Food, medical aid and other relief items are being provided to affected people in the camps.

Provincial Disaster Management Authority has so far distributed eighty thousand tents among affected people whereas another one hundred eighty thousand tents are being procured.

Meanwhile Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has announced plans to establish tent city in the province.

In an interview he said development funds will be used for relief and rehabilitation of flood affected people.

On the other hand, relief and rescue activities in flood hit areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are in full swing.

According to Director General Rescue 1122, the teams of emergency services are busy in relief activities besides rescuing the stranding people in various areas of the province.

The rescue operation is underway in Peshawar, Swat, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Upper Dir and Lower Kohistan.

The Director General said more teams are being deputed to speed up the rescue and relief operation in flood hit areas.

Several medical camps have also been set up in Dera Ismail Khan, Tank and other districts of the province.
