Minister of State for Law Shahadat Awan has said the government is taking measures to make the women bazar in G-10 sector of Islamabad functional.

Responding to a question during Question Hour in the National Assembly today, he said that the women bazar was established in G-10 without considering technical problems. He said the bazar comes under the right of way of 11th avenue that is why it was not made functional.

Replying to another question, the Minister of State said the sewage treatment plant in Sector 1-9/1 has a total capacity of 17 million gallon per day.

He said the plant is purely designed to treat the domestic sewage. Currently, the plant is receiving three to four million gallons of domestic raw sewage. He said around 20 percent of the treated water is being used for green belts, nurseries and plants.

To a query, Shahadat Awan informed the House that the Capital Development Authority has provided two cremation grounds for Hindu and Buddhist communities in Sector H-9, Islamabad.

He further said that over 14 acres of land has been allotted to the graveyards for Christians, and Qadiyanis in Sectors H-8 and H-9.

Minister for National Food Security and Research Tariq Bashir Cheema has ruled out food insecurity in the country as Pakistan recorded bumper crop of wheat this year.

Responding to a calling attention notice moved by Aliya Kamran and others, he said this year 28.5 million metric tons of wheat was recorded, along with the carry over stock of the previous year. He expressed the confidence that there will be no need to import the commodity as we have sufficient stock to cater to the needs of our population.

The National Assembly today “The Pakistan Ruet-e-Hilal Bill, 2022.” The bill is aimed at regulating the system of moon sighting for commencement of Islamic Hijri Calendar months and consequently bringing harmony amongst followers of various schools of thought of lslam to perform their religious obligations with unanimity throughout the country.

The bill was moved by Minister of State for Law Shahadat Awan.

The House will now meet again on 9th of the next month at four p.m.
