Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian says Tehran and Riyadh are ready to move their reconciliation talks to a higher level.

In an interview with Iran's state broadcaster, he said progress has been made in the negotiations started in April last year. Iraq has hosted five rounds of talks between two countries.

Hossein said Iran received a message from Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein last week who said the Saudi side is ready to move the talks to political and public level.

He said the previous rounds were mainly at the level of security officials.

Amir-Abdollahian expressed the hope that the negotiations with Riyadh would lead to "normal diplomatic ties between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
