At the United Nations, Pakistan has termed the UN Security Council’s inability to secure the implementation of its resolutions on Palestine and Kashmir as the greatest failures.

Speaking at the UN General Assembly, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Munir Akram said Security Council’s failure to secure implementation of its own resolutions to end Indian occupation and enable the people of Jammu and Kashmir to exercise their right to self-determination vividly erodes its credibility and legitimacy.

The Pakistani envoy called for a report that highlights emerging threats to international peace and security and outlines the Council’s efforts to settle disputes and prevent conflict.

He stressed that festering Kashmir dispute continues to pose an ever-present threat of another conflict between Pakistan and India.
